I saw this at the end of a triple feature, along with The Beaches of Agnes and Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. As such, I was feeling dizzy but the combined adequateness of each of the features didn’t leave me feeling antsy nor sleepy. I enjoyed this little sexy psychological a thriller, a sort of Double Indemnity cum Rebecca.
The story concerns a young bride, married to a wealthy bumpkin who supports three children with arrogance and rudeness. His ego alienates everyone. Believe it or not, the wife gets herself involved with one of the sons, and they wind up killing him after a complicated series of disappearances and secret sex. The whole plot is foiled by an investigation (of course, the case is interesting to the insurance company because it may invoke the double indemnity clause), where a police man finds the body of the woman in the trunk of the son. Who did it? Why, it was the jealous maid, of course, who pulls a Mrs. Danvers.
The ending has the son trapped by the police, so he runs off and gets himself killed. This reminded me a lot of the film Dirty Pictures (Un posto ideale per uccidere, 1971), a Weird Wednesday exactly 1 year ago, December 10, 2008. That is a superior film about a couple who sell imported Danish pornography in Italy and kidnap a woman in her house. Go see that movie if you can.

The film was advertised under this title, this is a promotional photo.
The sexual content is tame, especially for the period. It is a decent picture, though, led especially by the cast who represent very developed and funny characters.

[...] thought to attend this film because I was already planning to see The Beaches of Agnès at 7 and Part Time Wife at midnight, so I figured I would make it a triple feature. I knew nearly nothing about this film [...]
